One of the most important things that you need to really be careful of is the content that you publish on your website. Although the actual information is very important, you should really be knowledgeable of some ideas that will make you write better content today.

Remember that good content is not only about the information that it presents to the reader, but also how well structured it is and how well it presents its ideas. You may feel, especially if you write technical stuff, that you don’t really need to write in a good and cohesive manner. Let me assure you that this is not true. While you may have lots of interesting things to say to others, if you do not manage to communicate them properly, you will be losing readers.

Writing interesting and attractive content is definately not an easy task. Luckily there are some important ideas that you should take a look at in order to do so :

1. Write Often

You may have heard that a lot but it is entirely true. If you are a guitar player, the more you play the better you get. The same happens if you are a football player. Writing is a skill too and needs practice. Write often and as much as you can in order to get better at it.

2. Be Specific

Think of this sentence :

“People in this city can sometimes be friendly or hostile”

This is a very general statement. Care to elaborate a bit and present each thing progressively. Explain why they are friendly first and then also mention why the can be hostile too. Don’t make your readers wonder.

3. Use Your Experience

Interesting writing is unique writing. Your experiences on your topic are unique and people will be interested to read what you have to say based on your actual past.

4. Write Short Sentences

There is nothing more appalling than long sentences. Try to keep it simple. If you write lots of things per sentence, you risk that your users never actually understand what you wanted to say in the first place. Write as  short sentences as the ones you would use when talking to somebody.

5. Write in Bullets

Lists are a very important writing tool. You see, this post is a list too. The good thing about them is that they coherently present what you want to say to your readers and they are easy to skim through.

6. Headlines Are The Key to Enticing a Visitor

Do you really know how to write good enticing headlines ? This is definately the first thing you will need to do in order to have your visitors keep on reading. Do not underestimate the power of a good headline because most times it is the decisive factor that will make a visitor read on or go away.

7. Use Metaphors, Similes, Stories

People like to read these. They are most times pleasant to the eye, humorous, interesting and generally catchy. Use them for your advantage, especially at the very beginning of your posts.

8. Prove

Have to say something arguable ? Try to prove what you say. It’s nice to claim that a person can make 20,000$ per day but if you cannot prove it, you are just another one..

9. Your Perspective Matters

Remember that people are reading your writings. Give them a bit of yourself and don’t hold back on your personality just to present technical stuff. Relate to what you say and become the author behind your words.

10. Always Present an Idea at a Time

Do not change the subject of your post randomly just because you felt like saying something irrelevant. Keep on writing about your post’s topic and create a new post in order to write that one. It wouldn’t be nice to start talking about the new Harry Potter 6 now, would it ? :)
