Setting a website hit counter could be a very nice idea. However, this mostly depends on whether your website receives significant, or at least, noticeable traffic. After all, you would not want to show a stable hit counter of 500 hits, would you ?
If you do get enough traffic so that the hits grow more and more every day, you may want to think about adding a counter. As with other techniques, like showing your twitter followers on your website or your feeburner subscribers, it’s always important that you already get enough people that proove you socially.
For instance, 30 FeedBurner subscribers are definately not a nice number to show around in order to convince other people to get the RSS feed. It has a great panel allowing you to make wonderful changes, it’s very easy to customize and can also email you information about your website statistics and more. This one would definately be my number one recommendation.

You only need to select the hit counter of your choice and just provide some information about your website and an email address. Once more, a great website hit counter service.
Of course, adding the hit counter to your website is really easy to do. You would just need to locate the right place to paste some code that will be provided to you by the website counter service that you choose to use.
