3 Reasons Why High Pageranks Bring Traffic to Your Website
Posted by Spyros Panagiotopoulos in Marketing && Getting Traffic
On the quest to getting more traffic for your website, it is pretty important to mind even the little details. You may have heard that Google’s Pagerank is not related to getting more visitors but this is definately not the case. It may be true that PR does not directly have an impact on your traffic but in reality, it really has its role in the popularity of your website.
In case you are not familiar with Pagerank, you should know that it is a way in which google classifies the world’s websites and webpages. It is a metric system created and patented by Stanford University and used exclusively by google who has bought the rights to do so.
A webpage’s pagerank mainly relates to how many other websites link to it. This counts exactly like a vote would. Say that site A links to site B. The latter gets a vote from that website that directly corresponds to its own pagerank. For instance, if site A has a high pagerank, this link pointing to site B offers very good pagerank value to site B. However, if site A links to many websites, the link pointing to site B starts losing value. Therefore, getting linked by a website that has PR 2/10 but being the only link this page has is much better than getting linked by a PR 4/10 page that also links to a hundred more pages.
Pagerank is NOT an integer value in fact. It’s a float one that is internally counted by google, but we are presented to the closest integer value. Getting from PR 1 to PR 2 would for instance mean getting linked by 10 other pages but getting PR 3 from PR 2 is much harder and it could mean getting linked by 80 pages as the difficulty increases logarithmically.
This is one of the reasons why to get traffic you need other websites to link back to you and the higher those websites ranks are, the better value you get from that links. Note that one way links are much better than traffic exchanges and also it is important that others websites linking to you have some relativity to your content.
Stating that Pageranks are not responsible for getting traffic is not an invalid statement but leaves much out of the game as you will notice.
1. Pageranks relate to Search Engine Result Pages
Although some would state otherwise, pageranks are the official metric system that google uses. Therefore, it plays some very good role in classifying the order of search results. Imagine that someone searches for the term “real madrid football club”. Who do you think would get better search engine placement ? A webpage that has a 3 PR or another that has 1 PR ? Provided that they share about the same content, the 3 PR would definately be higher in the list 9 out of 10 times.
2. Higher Pageranks Social Proof Your Website
With websites, it’s all about being social. In order to achieve success, you need to socialize with people and help them with some of their problems. Getting better pageranks means that people tend to like your site and posts and give value to them. This socially proves your online appearance through recommendations by other webmasters. Therefore, high pageranks are a means to identify that a website has a large impact on people. This is what leads your website to success and more traffic. Being evaluated by others.
3. Once indexed Always on Track
Getting a Pagerank means that you’re indexed on google. Do not underestimate that fact. It’s crucial for future traffic development. Once you are indexed on google, you will always be a possible search engine result page and are likely to get better and better search engine placement as time progresses. I’ve heard it from many webmasters that they are not indexed by google even after weeks of running a website. Of course, there are certain ways to get indexed in search engines and getting there is definately the very first important step you need to make. Getting your first pageranks means that you were indexed and are getting noticed online. These facts alone are what can lead on to greater success and traffic as you do more and more steps creating content, improving your website and marketing.
For every new webmaster, little things count. You can’t just drop the tools you need to attract visitors. It’s essential that you know about them and understand why they work and pagerank is certainly one of the terms that you should really have a grasp on and be able to harvest the best deeds out of it.
