great idea 150x150 Who Else Wants a Great Website Idea ?When new webmasters think about creating a website and make money out of, they try hard to think of great new ideas, choose great niches, create a website that noone else has ever thought of before, become the next facebook or twitter. Most fail to realize that it’s not really the ideas that make for a success.

Do you know what makes a good idea ? ACTION. An idea itself is never enough, hundreds of people have millions of ideas but few actually take action and transform them to websites. Even fewer have the patience to wait and accept some temporary defeat too, before managing to create a successful website. Taking action and not being afraid to experiment is what makes a success.

WHATEVER you’re thinking of, someone else has thought it before you. However, even though many have thought it before you, few really took the work to transform it to a business model.

Another mistake assumption that i see many people making is that they cannot really compete with already established websites. After all, if you were always shopping at a standard shop each time you wanted to buy shoes, what would make you change your mind and shop at a newer one ? While this may be true to some extent, remember that there’s always opportunity.

Should you bring some new shoe brands, or have better service some people would start to shop from you and eventually get your own customers. However, if you offered the exact things already established businesses provide, others would certainly choose the known and trusted brand, not because your products are worse but because the competitor has already social prooved theirself. The key is to bring on some new things to the trade in order to attract people. I won’t say that it’s easy to compete with youtube or such and in fact it’s almost impossible, but let’s face it. Very few websites in the world are so much of a brand over the internet. Sure, to be realistic, you can’t compete with youtube, facebook and such but you certainly can compete with a website about fishing, even if it’s the most popular website on earth.

The reason behind this is really the budget that those sites spend on their own advertisment. For instance, google owns youtube. That means that there is absolutely no way you can compete youtube and win. Or take facebook as another example. This social networking website is incredibly established online and has spent incredible sums of money in order to advertise. Competing with these giants is like being an ant that wants to beat an elephant.

On the other hand, let’s consider the fishing website example. This one is a really great resource about fishing and is the most popular online, getting thousands of visitors. However, if you really were interested in fishing and would like to take action and create a corresponding website, do not fear of this competition, go for it. The important idea is that you provide people with fresh information and not copy the known website’s ideas. Maybe even create a new section about ice fishing or even make it an ice fishing dedicated website, whatever suits you better. The person that owns the already known website about fishing has gone through what you aim at doing now. They did not start being an authority, they most probably put on some heavy work to be so and earned their way into making their websites a business.

Do not just think, take action now ! Be patient and create more content while helping people meet their needs in order to be closer to success.
